Most people will experience periods of insomnia at some point in their lives. Usually, we recover and naturally return to a healthy sleep pattern quite quickly. However, sometimes sleep still evades and this can become chronic insomnia which usually encompasses a mixture of bad sleeping habits and an inability to stop thinking. This can in turn lead to anxiety, depression, and feeling unable to cope with everyday life. Worse still, we come to fear insomnia, which leaves us even more anxious and alert. I know from past personal experience how debilitating lack of sleep can be and will work with you to implement good ‘sleep hygiene’ - the collection of habits that promote sleep – as well as working with you to look at your sleeping patterns, what’s going on in your life at present, worries and current stresses, thinking habits and sleep habits, to address every factor that is leading to the development of your unique sleeping problems. I use an integrative approach from using cognitive behavioural techniques, implementing good ‘sleep hygiene’, teaching you self hypnosis to aid both physical and mental relaxation, to mindfulness techniques. Once you are able to experience deep, restorative sleep you will find that your life improves immeasurably, and anxiety and pain are reduced.
